Neuronal protection by nimodipine. Hippocampal neurons from E18 C57BL/6J mice and cultured for 7-8 days in neurobasal medium with 2% FBS. Fresh medium was placed in wells and neurons were treated with either 0 or 1 μM nimodipine (n = 12 each). Neurons were subjected to LDH assay to quantify cell death 48 h later (10 DIV); nimodipine remained in the cultures throughout this time.
