Specific accumulation of amyloid peptides in the Drosophila CNS. A, low magnification micrograph of brain section indicating the selected area from which immunohistochemistry is shown. B, amyloid deposits in the CNS were assessed with specific anti-amyloid peptide antibodies in lines expressing 2 copies of each transgene. Microphotographs of frontal paraffin sections showed discrete aggregates of Aβ42 and more widespread ABri and ADan deposits which were detected mainly in the supraesophagical brain, both in neurons and neuropil (arrows). No staining was detected in Bri2-23 line, used as a negative control for antibody specificity. Representative images from 3 independent biological experiments are shown. Scale bar = 50 μm.
