Chemokine expression in RPE and Müller cell cultures stimulated with IL-1β. a MIO-M1 and ARPE-19 cells were incubated with IL-1β protein for 12 h, after which MIO-M1 cultures were found to up-regulate expression of Ccl2, Cxcl1 and Cxcl10 (P < 0.05), while ARPE-19 cells had significantly increased expression of Cxcl1 and Cxcl10 (P < 0.05), compared to unstimulated controls. b MTT assays were conducted on MIO-M1 and ARPE-19 cultures, which showed no difference in cell viability between IL-1β and control groups. c-d Representative images of Il-1r1 and Il-rap PCR products indicate that MIO-M1 and ARPE-19 express the receptor genes necessary for Il-1β signal transduction.
