Electron micrographs show the node of Ranvier in the white matter region containing the corticospinal tract in wild type (A) and NFL-/- (B) mice at the age of 2 months. Note there were more unloading loops (B, arrow), which did not contact with the axonal membrane, in NFL-/- mice. The loading loops in wild type mice are shown in A (arrow).
