From: BBC3 (PUMA) regulates developmental apoptosis but not axonal injury induced death in the retina
Bbc3 increases the number of ganglion cell layer neurons in the adult retina. There is an increase in POU4F1 retinal ganglion cells (red) in both Bbc3 and Bax deficient retinas. The number of cholinergic amacrine cells (green) is not increased in either Bbc3 of Bax deficient retinas. Note, CHAT+ cell numbers where similar to controls in both the inner nuclear layer (INL) and in the GCL (displaced amacrine cells).
